We are now into the second month of the new financial year, where has first month that gone?
So have you got your budgets sorted and entered into QuickBooks so you can measure your business growth?

The patch is out for 11/12 version and covers the new tax tables and the Flood Levy. Have you installed it yet?
Remember to do a backup and rebuild then restart your computer before loading the patch.

FLOOD LEVY, WHO IS AFFECTED?
Whilst this has been introduced and now a month into force, there are still questions like, who has to pay the tax etc.
QuickBooks and Payroll Premier are both compliant from the taxation point of view, visit this part of the ATO website to have the questions answered.

HAVE YOU FOUND THE NEW SEARCH FUNCTIONS YET?
One new feature in 2011/12 QuickBooks is the ability to now search the Customer and Supplier Centres by any name, phone number, post code etc that you have entered in any field of their information.
If you look at the list of names in the centre you will now see find with a magnifying glass, just type in there what you are searching for, example their phone number is …… and it will then search the list for that number and display that customer only.
If you have Enterprise you can search items the same way in your item list to make it quick to find items in large item lists. Remember Enterprise comes in 5 user, 1 user and the Hosted (Online) product is also Enterprise.
Hosted can also be used on Mac and iPad and Android smart phones for that mobile flexibility.

*You can save some time generating reports by setting preferences to allow you to change options before the report is generated.
Go to Edit>Preferences>Reports&Graphs>MyPreferences>tick Prompt me to modify report options before opening a report. You can then change date range, columns, filters and others before the report opens.
**Do your reports (incl BAS) show quarterly periods out of sync with the standard quarterly periods of July/Oct/Jan/April?
It might be because your Tax year has been set incorrectly. In Company>Company Information>Report Information>First month in your>Tax Year, make sure July is selected.
