Hello, we are back from our annual conference learning more about the capabilities to use QuickBooks more effectively, the new features of the 2011/12 release and hints and tips.
QUICKBOOKS 2011/12
This is starting to be shipped now to all Subscription and Advantage customers.
There are some really neat functions in this release. Here are three.
The first one is the Company Snap Shot. Imagine having all your financial information, customised to suit what you want to look at in 1 screen. No longer 7 or so different reports, you can have what you owe, who owes you, bank account balances, top 10 customers, top 10 items sellers as examples all on one page that can be drilled down to.
The next one is a search function in your customer and supplier centre so you can find them by name, contact name, custom fields, phone numbers etc. You need to see this so you can appreciate how good it is.
The third is to do with Payroll. With the introduction of Paid Parental Leave the 2011/12 version has a payroll item to deal with this new government scheme.
Like in previous years upgrading the file can have issues if not done with procedures and it is in your interest to get it upgraded by an accredited consultant.

REGISTERED BAS AGENT REQUIREMENT
It is now a legal requirement for consultants who help prepare, or teach the setup of, the BAS reporting be registered BAS Agents. The Paid Parental Leave Scheme
The Paid Parental Leave Scheme started on 1 January 2011 and provides 18 weeks of government-funded pay to eligible employees.
The rate of pay is equivalent to the national minimum wage. Full-time, part-time, casual, seasonal, contract and self-employed workers may be eligible.
Parents can lodge a claim up to three months in advance. The Family Assistance Office may contact you if one of your employees is eligible. From 1 July 2011, you will be required to provide parental leave pay to your eligible employees (funds will be provided to you in advance).
However, your role in the scheme can start earlier if you and your employee agree.
To get your business ready, register now at www.centrelink.gov.au and search for ‘Centrelink business online services’.
